CFXF ANNOUNCES ITS SPONSORSHIP OF THE INTERNATIONAL FRAGILE X
RESEARCH ALLIANCE

We know how very important it is for organizations that are focused exclusively on finding a cure for fragile X to come together to preserve the focus on a cure. Many of the education and outreach activities within the fragile X community are vitally important to those affected and their families, but they will not lead to a cure. The new International Fragile X Research Alliance, sponsored by CFXF and hosted at our website, www.cfxf.org, will help us preserve the clear focus on a cure. With that sharp focus, we can influence the research agenda around the world to invest as heavily as possible in basic scientific research for a cure. Charter members of the International Fragile X Research Alliance include CFXF, The Fragile X Association of Belgium, The Spanish Fragile X Syndrome Federation, Associacao Catarinense do X-Fragil, (Brazil), Fundación MABIS, Hospital Universitario Carlos Haya Laboratorio de investigación, (Spain), Fragile X Research Foundation of Canada, The Siomi Laboratory in the Institute for Genome Research at the University of Tokushima, Japan and the Fragile X Association of Europe, which includes Belgium, Spain, France, Portugal and Italy. Please visit the “International Alliance” page at our website to look for important upcoming fragile X-related meetings around the world and news from all our members.

On Sunday, April 17, 2005, Sarah Powell, “Tizzy” a London native and family friend of CFXF Director, Jennifer Jaques and her husband, Andrew, ran the London Marathon to benefit CFXF. The race is to be run in New York City on November 6, 2005 and Tizzy will be there! You can support “Tizzy’s run for CFXF” by sponsoring each of the 26 miles she will run! If you sponsor her at $2.00 per mile or more, you will receive a cap like the one Tizzy wears in the photo. Please complete the form below and return it to us at the address shown, or visit our website at www.cfxf.org. You can donate online and see more pictures of Tizzy’s London run. Not all of us can run a grueling 26 mile race and we are so grateful that Tizzy is dedicating her marathon to helping us cure Fragile X. Let’s show her our support.
